In 2013 the topic of the annual PhUSE conference will be "Patient Centricity".
Patient Centricity is often abused as a buzz word in our industry. For most Statistical Programmers Patient Centricity does not have a meaning at all. We people working in biometric departments in Pharma companies and CROs are far away from patients and have no direct contact with people suffering from serious diseases. Day in day out, we work with Patient data though. We know their birth dates, their gender, their social habits. We know how much alcohol they drink and if they smoke cigarettes or cigars. We know which medications they take and track their disease progressions. We often know when they dies. So can anyone else be closer to the patient than we people who work in the biometric departments? Does anyone have more information about patients than we do?
At PhUSE 2013, Patients will be at the heart of our conference. We will have workshops focusing on therapeutic areas, diseases and data analysis. We want to understand the data we work with every day. At Brussels we will start with the Therapeutic Areas Oncology and Rheumatoid Arthritis. These workshops will be created based on the Therapeutic Area project groups which use the PhUSE Wiki to collaborate on various Therapeutic Areas. Click here to check the Therapeutic Area Wikis. We will have discussion clubs where we will discuss and learn how we could further improve standardization in various therapeutic areas. We will also learn what else we can do to make patients lives better.
Everything else that has made PhUSE so successful for many years will stay the same. The streams will be the backbone of our conference, with 14 streams to present relevant topics in various fields of our work. PhUSE is second to none with regards to networking and there will be plenty of time to share knowledge with colleagues and friends. Discussion Clubs will open the floor for discussions n relevant subjects and will be followed up through the Wiki.

At the heart of the conference are the 14 streams that give a platform for presenters to share knowledge and exchange ideas.
How to publish a Conference Wiki
General guidelines on how to publish a Wiki can be found in the general Wiki Author Training.
There are different options if you want to publish a Wiki for the Budapest conference.
- Publish a Wiki in addition to a static PDF paper
- Publish a Wiki instead of a static PDF paper
You also should decide if you want to open your Wiki for global collaboration prior to the conference or after the conference. In either way you should let your stream chair know your decision. Your stream chair can lock your Wiki so that it cannot be changed by other users (including yourself).
Wiki in addition to a PDF paper
If you want to publish a Wiki in addition to a PDF paper the easiest way to avoid redundancies is to publish a Wiki where you briefly summarize your paper and add a link to your paper. You also can upload your PDF to the Wiki and refer to it.
After the creation of the Wiki please let your stream chair know if you want your Wiki to be locked for changes prior to the conference.
An example for an open Wiki in addition to a PDF can be found here: Review of Statistical Analysis Plans (Summary).
An example for a locked Wiki in addition to a PDF can be found here: Review of Statistical Analysis Plans (Summary locked).
In all cases please keep the title of your Wiki consistent with your paper title from the call for paper system.
Wiki instead of a PDF paper
If you want to publish a Wiki instead of a static PDF paper you have to publish all your content on the Wiki prior to the conference. After the creation of the Wiki please let your stream chair know if you want your Wiki to be locked for changes prior to the conference.
An example for an open Wiki instead of a PDF can be found here: Review of Statistical Analysis Plans.
