A teleconference/webex was held on 28 August 2015 in which members presented screen shots of representative visualization/graphical display tools for histopathology data.

  • A Brown (Novartis) presented a case example using the Novartis Translational Safety Platform (TSP). Feedback provided was that the text font size was small and should be reconfigured. A question was posed as to whether dose levels could be displayed on the horizontal axis, with tissue findings on the vertical axis, in order to represent a dose-trend in lesions. Limitations to TSP include that it is a dynamic system which allows user-interface exploration whereas exportation of graphics for presentation purposes (such as to Power-Point) is limiting.
  • M Pinches (AstraZeneca) presented an output from an internal data warehouse in which multiple study data were aggregated for display. This was the first example of multpile study analysis presented to the group. Clinical observations were presented as incidence scores and histopathology data were presented as a delta score based on sum of square roots of group incidence and severity scores. Tissues within a given study are ordered based on increasing delta scores. Data within each study are ordered by rank. A second screen view provided single study analysis across dose levels.
  • J Zandee of INDS gave a demo of the SEND Explorer heat map. Normal findings are colored green with severity codes depicted by color. The software has a monochromatic feature to convert color to grey scale. Individual data from SEND data sets are graphed. INDS is working on creating a filter for tissues to be selected. Currently all study tissues are graphed. Column labels are SEND terms with recognizable terms viewable by mousing over. Grouped graphical data are in development.
